To secure a VSM Programme Manager for a corporate services transformation for the entire trust. To provide multi million-pound efficiencies, ROI and a ‘smarter’ way of working to benefit employee’s daily work. Finding an interim consultant who had done it on a large scale, across 5-year programmes, working at Board & reporting to CCG level with the relevant commercial acumen and NHS experience needed to successfully fulfil the role and take it off the Director’s desk.
The client had a few challenges, namely:
- 2 adverts failed to hire via NHS Jobs
- Multiple non-specialist agencies failed to provide the right candidate and time was wasted interviewing people
- The negotiation of the solution on the framework with the bandings and the skill sets within a cost appropriate, this needed expert advice from a specific recruitment consultant
A two-prong approach of consultation with the client to evaluate how they could get the most from the market with the budget and timeframes needed for the programme to be completed. 1) Assessing the entire programme & putting in putting in an interim resource who would go into ‘shape things up’ and get the programme written & started. 2) Then, working with the Director to put in place an exit strategy to replace the interim with an FTC resource, with a full hand over.
Successfully putting an interim in place to set up the entirety of the programme, who had acted at VSM level previously within the NHS, enable them to hit the ground running and deliver. Putting in place timelines, financial assessments & devising a new plan, which was approved by the board to get efficiencies created in a more agile way. Then, working with the consultant to recruit an FTC, putting an exit & handover plan in place to ensure seamlessness. This saved the Trust more money, but it allowed a ‘safe pair of hands’ to give the programme the kick-off it needed
